Motorola has introduced its latest flagships, the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play, from Motorola’s bestselling G series, and Moto E5 Plus and E5 Play, all of which shall sell in the price range of $100 to $300. Along with these, Motorola is scheduled to launch the G6 Plus and a regular E5 model; but these shall not be launched in the US.

The G6 and G6 Plus look similar to each other, with curved edges on the back, thin bezels, and 18:9 displays on the front. But, while the standard G6 can boast of a gorilla glass back, making it come closest to a flagship level build, the G6 Play has to be satisfied with a polymer glass back.

With a 5.7-inch display somewhere over 1080p, a Snapdragon 450 processor, and options of 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage or 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, along with being the only Motorola phone among the ones announced lately to include USB-C; the Moto G6 promises to be the phone that has been well endowed. A fingerprint sensor on the front that can detect gestures and completely replace the Android control keys frees up screen space on the phone’s anterior. Apart from these, the phone includes a dual rear camera setup that has been equipped with an “active photo” mode that takes videos with each picture and built-in face filters, allowing it to capture unexpectedly clear portraits.

While the G6 Play has a 5.7-inch display, its screen resolution has been cut down to 720p. Its default model comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, and its maximum storage configuration shall reach up to 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. In the camera department, the G6 Play also falls behind, with a single 12 MP rear camera. The only feature worth noticing about the G6 Play is its massive 4,000 mAh battery.

A 6-inch screen with a resolution somewhere over 720p, a Snapdragon 435 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage, a 12 MP single rear camera, and polymer glass back may make the Moto E5 Plus seem like it should stay under the shade of the superior G6 model; but the seemingly less endowed E5 Plus takes the cake with its massive 5,000 mAh battery.

The E5 Play, on the other hand, fails to impress with its 5.2-inch display, which, although listed as “HD,” looks pixelated and washed out compared to any of the other phones that have been announced along with it; its plastic body; 16:9 display; and a 2,800 mAh removable battery.

Motorola plans to launch all the phones latest by June, with the G6 Plus having launched in Brazil yesterday and scheduled to launch in Mexico by this week. G6 Plus shall make its way into the Asia Pacific, Europe, and Latin America in the future, selling for around €299 (about $370 USD). In their base configurations, the G6 will sell for $249 and the G6 Play for $199.

While the Moto E5 Play will launch globally, the E5 Plus shall remain limited to the US; and while their prices shall be determined by the phone carriers, it is expected that they will start in the $100 range. The standard E5 is expected to sell for €149 (about $185 USD).
