Facebook introduced the sleep mode to its app Messenger Kids today, April 28, to improve parental controls that are the core of the app experience. The sleep mode in Messenger Kids will allow parents to set predetermined ‘off times’ in the app on the device.

Parents provided feedback to Facebook regarding Messenger Kids that controls to make the app inaccessible during times like dinner or bedtime. Sleep mode offers the same to the parents, where the set-off times will make the app inaccessible to kids for the respective time period.

With a simplified interface, the new feature enables parents to adjust the timings at any time. This ensures that they don’t have to constantly monitor or change app controls, giving them peace of mind for their children.

You can find the feature on Messenger Kids controls in the main Facebook app. After tapping on the name of the child, you’ll need to tap on ‘Sleep Mode’ in the App Controls. Then, you can set the times you want your child not to access the device.

Facebook also advises parents to have a conversation with their children while setting such restrictions. This will support a mutual understanding between the two ends, providing a positive psychological effect for the children.

During sleep mode, they won’t be able to receive or send messages, nor will they have access to video calls. Playing with a creative camera or receiving notifications won’t take place either. When they attempt to access the app, they’ll receive a message asking them to come back later, letting them know it’s in sleep mode presently.

Parents can access all Messenger Kids’ controls via the main Facebook app. Alongside using the sleep mode, they can add and remove contacts and even delete and create accounts from the control panel.

This is really cool for the parents, where they can welcome their next generation to the digital world and control their stay the same simultaneously. Technology can thus be a beneficial tool to fuel idealism in familial aspects while passing on the baton of evolutionary progress to the newer representatives of time.
