Reports are that Samsung Galaxy will renew its J-series. In 2018, the Galaxy J4 and J6 models were expected. But there are still a lot of Samsung smartphones coming. So today, we discovered a trademark for the unannounced J2 Core.

Samsung Electronics submitted the application on 4 May 2018 to the Korean KIPRIS. The trademark is categorized as smartphones; mobile phones.

Last month the first reports about a possible Galaxy J2 Core got underway. This device will probably replace the Galaxy J2. It has become a real budget smartphone. Twitterer Roland Quandt also announced that it would also be the very first Android Go smartphone from Samsung.

HMD Global has already announced the Nokia 1; these budget phones also run on the Android Go operating system. This relatively new Google OS is optimized for smartphones with limited hardware. Alcatel and ZTE also have an Android Go smartphone in their portfolio.

A Geekbench benchmark test had already surfaced for the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core (SM-J260G). The cheap phone is powered by a 1.43Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 7570 processor with 1GB of RAM. The device runs on Android 8.1 Go Edition.

The new J2 Core can be announced at any time. By the way, it is not the first time Samsung has captured a product name for the new J-series. Other Galaxy smartphones that Samsung recently received a trademark for are, among others, Galaxy J3 Star, J3 Top, J3 Aura, J3 Orbit, J7 Star, J7 Top, J7 Crown and J7 Aura, and Galaxy J7 Core.

The talks about a possible Galaxy have completely stopped in the past month. It may be that this device eventually became the Galaxy A6.
