The world always loves an underdog story, a story of how someone insignificant managed to make a mark. In the world of giants like Apple, Samsung, and Huawei, a small startup called OnePlus managed to make smartphones that gave the same features and experience but for half the price. With their very first smartphone, the OnePlus One, it became known as the “Flagship Killer,” and since then, with each iteration, OnePlus has tried to outdo its previous edition as well as the competition.
While the recent launch of the OnePlus 6 with its notched display and glass back has piqued a lot of interest, we felt it was the right time to turn back into OnePlus’ history books and look at what made all the OnePlus’ devices up to the 6 unique. The infographic shows a lot of cool things about the OnePlus phone, but mainly we see how small of a lineup they have. In a world where there are three versions of the Moto E, Moto G, and Moto Z each year, OnePlus has launched only 8 devices over a period of 4 years. If that isn’t unique, you have to look at how they have priced their phones despite their competitors breaking the Rs.50,000 and even the Rs.1,00,000 mark.
Also, each OnePlus phone has had a unique something that the previous one did not have; the OnePlus One came with the hugely customizable and developer-friendly Cyanogen OS. The OnePlus 2 added an AMOLED screen, fingerprint sensor, and USB-C. This trend of adding something unique has been carried forward all the way to the OnePlus 6.
