Microsoft announced yesterday, June 11, that Xbox Adaptive Controller is available for pre-order. It will be available for shipment starting in September.

The controller is available in the following markets: Germany, Finland, Netherlands, Italy, France, the UK, Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Australia, and the USA.

Microsoft Xbox Adaptive ControllerIt was unveiled a few weeks ago and is designed for gamers having limited mobility, being the first-of-its-kind. According to Microsoft, it has already earned a prolific response from the fans worldwide, as it screams out the power of inclusion across various domains.

The controller was developed in partnership with Craig Hospital, AbleGamers Charity, SpecialEffect, The Cerebral Palsy Foundation, and Warfighter Engaged. Gamers with limited mobility assisted in the development as well.

It is challenging for these gamers to get controller solutions suitable to their particular needs. Today’s existing solutions are expensive, inconveniently available, or need technical skills for creating the setup. Even today’s custom solutions are difficult to scale to make them personalized.

The Xbox Adaptive Controller addresses all of these issues with the aim to reach the hands of the gamers with limited mobility. It is extensible, affordable and can be easily setup via simple plug-and-play. It supports common adaptive switches and two additional built-in buttons that can be reprogrammed as any standard controller input by using the Xbox Accessories app.

As for supporting games, Microsoft worked with third-party manufacturers to bring support for external inputs on the controller. Some of these inputs include Game Controller of Quadstick, and Extreme 3D Pro Joystick of Logitech.

The company says that pre-orders for Canada will soon be available. It is working to make the controller available in other countries as well. Priced at the US $99.99 it can be availed from Microsoft Store, Xbox.com or any local Microsoft retail store.
