‘Off-Instagram’: Photo and video sharing gone for a toss for the Instagrammers

The tweet below posted by an avid Instagrammer perfectly sums up the hassle caused by Instagram going kaput globally.

This photo and video sharing social media launched as an offshoot of Facebook has caught the pulse of the millennial generation which loves to put up the details of their life out there for the world to know. And ever since 2010, it has only grown more popular, rather indispensable in our virtual-social life. Needless to say then, is the fact that all these billions of Instagrammers will not be happy with a breakdown in the service.

Even more so, as the breakdown glitch has occurred at least 4-5 times in the past 3 months, the Instagram fans have all the more valid cause to express their displeasure, anger, and disappointment with the recurring crashing of the app. They have in fact taken to Twitter to vent their irritation with the tag #instagramdown marking their tweets.

Many people checked on Twitter if the ‘Instagram down’ situation was mutually shared by Instagrammers around the globe, and found out that the situation involved many users and Twitter was drawing an increasing heap of tweets corroborating the breakdown, with people tweeting in their native languages as well, suggesting a global effect of the Instagram crash.

The problem started with “couldn’t refresh the feed issue”, putting a stopper to the accessibility of the main feed on the Instagram page by the users.

Reacting to the situation, some users took to express their take on it creatively, with GIFs and funny pictures outlining their thoughts.

This glitch made its way into the Android and iOS app and even the web version. And strangely enough, no cause of the service outage was mentioned by the Instagram team.

From no refreshing of the main feed, the glitch increased to all the tabs such as home, explore, following etc breaking down as well. The official team of Instagram soon tweeted its statement on the glaring glitch of their service; assuring the users that the workaround was in progress and would soon recover Instagram to its proper functionality.

Getting to know an exact reason for the Instagram crash doesn’t matter as much to the Instagrammers as much the speedy resolution and minimizing of such glitches do. The Instagram breakdown has risen up to be a trending topic and needs to be tackled immediately to sustain the numbers of Instagrammers who are steady fans of the service.

Sharing photos and videos that describe the little details and nuances of our daily life has become an extension of the sense of socio-emotional well-being that comes along with social media activity. Social media is one of the major factors responsible for pepping up the daily excitement quotient of our routine lives of monotonous work schedules. Doing exactly that, Instagram serves to break the monotony, while at home, in-between work schedules, while on the move and when stuck in those insufferable traffic jams and so on. So why should people be on the backlog in sharing what’s going on in their lives with the others?

The world can’t wait, and so can’t we!
