BlackBerry, via its blog, announced yesterday, June 20 that it has partnered MedRegis to technologically advance healthcare in the Caribbean. MedRegis, based in Barbados, provides eHealth applications to better the delivery of care.

MedRegis has its own platform of EHR (Electronic Health Record) and has major healthcare professionals to provide services. It takes care of the procedures like automated booking, prescriptions, and billing, starting from a patient’s checking in to checking out.

Now, to support the endeavor and take it further, BlackBerry, with its partnership, brings BBM Enterprise SDK to help MedRegis bring secure voice, video, and messaging functionalities. This will create seamless connections between doctors and other medical officials, taking care of the overall administrative burden and investing more time in patients.

What the SDK brings on board is embedding secure enterprise-grade IP messaging and collaboration features into apps and services for MedRegis. Developers get the access to BlacKBerry’s best specs while enjoying scalability, reliability, and affordability.

The entire BlackBerry offerings are built on its global NOC network, which helps protect data at-rest or in-transit. All communications are encrypted to provide as much security as required.

Dale Trotman, CEO for MedRegis throws more light on the benefits they are receiving from BlackBerry: “Our goal is to eradicate the widespread use of paper within ambulatory care in the Caribbean. By integrating BlackBerry’s BBM Enterprise with our platform, we are empowering healthcare providers to do just that through a secure and proven video, voice and messaging technology. With BlackBerry’s help, MedRegis will streamline workflow and usability in a way paper cannot.”

On an inferring note, MedRegis gets out of tedious paperwork to get into the digital transformation to progress its services while caring for the Caribbean people, thanks to BlackBerry and its security parameters.
