Sony today, July 11, has announced its latest in the Xperia XA2 family, the Sony Xperia XA2 Plus, which is joining Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra for the budget markets.

Xperia XA2 Plus is a mid-range smartphone, sporting a 6-inch FHD+ display supporting 1080p with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It has a design similar to the other XA2 devices but comes with notable changes, starting with the aspect ratio. Also, the slimmer bezels are to contribute to a better look.

On the power and storage front, the XA2 Plus is fueled by Snapdragon 630 that is coupled with 4GB or 6GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB internal memory. There could be two such storage variants, and the memory will be expandable via a microSD card.

Xperia XA2 PlusRunning Android Oreo out of the box, XA2 Plus carries one 23MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera with a wide-angle lens. A rear fingerprint sensor, a 3,580mAh battery, and USB-C charging are other familiar specs. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the screen from consequences after accidental drops.

The metallic finishing and the thin borders make the handset stylish, further complemented by the screen’s bright and sharp attributes, offering a natural viewing experience. A mini-display mode lets you toggle between the small and large on-screen interfaces for easy and one-handed operation and typing, as Sony says.

Regarding audio, the Digital Sound Enhancement Engine of the company and the improved Bluetooth streaming with LDAC complete the package with quality. This is the first time Sony has brought the Hi-Res audio package in a device of this class.

Pricing is not disclosed yet, but it is expected that XA2 Plus will sit around the bracket of XA2 Ultra that’s priced about US$ 450. Sales are to start in August. The four color options for XA2 Plus are: Black, Silver, Green and Gold.
