VirtualLink 1.0 connectivity standard for VR was developed by a group of leading silicon, software, and headset manufacturers. It enables next-generation VR headsets to connect with a PC or other device using a single, high-bandwidth USB Type-C connector.

The new USB-C connector simplifies and speeds up VR setup time bringing remarkable VR experiences among the smaller devices by means of fewer ports, such as thin and light notebooks.

In deliverance of next-generation VR as promised, is needed to increase their display resolution and incorporate high-bandwidth cameras for tracking and augmented reality. VirtualLink, when connected with VR headsets, will bring upon an astounding experience with four high-speed HBR3 DisplayPort lanes, which are scalable for future needs; a USB3.1 data channel for supporting high-resolution cameras and sensors; and up to 27 watts of power.

We hope to see the results of this partnership boost the user experience and extend the possibilities for all developers and hardware manufacturers,- Pierre-Loup Griffais of Valve.

The new connectivity is purposively built for VR. It hopes to enable the PCs and the headsets to deliver incredible VR experiences for its users.
