Developer and one of the co-writers, Dave Filoni of the TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, announced yesterday, July 11 that his team has come up with 12 new episodes. The worldwide broadcasting of the 7th season will be carried out via Disney streaming service.

The animated television series is being celebrated for its 10 years of creating this year at the San Diego Comic-Con, where Dave took the center stage to make the announcement. The series created an entry point for a generation into the multiverse of Star Wars.

Since 2009, it has won numerous accolades, from Annie Awards to Emmy Awards, along with BTVA, Teen Choice, and Critics’ Choice Television Awards. It is deemed as an essential Star Wars, introducing new characters like AhsokaTano, Jedi Padawan, and Captain Rex.

After 6 seasons ending in 2014 with The Lost Missions, this is the first time Disney and Lucasfilm are bringing new episodes, finally addressing requests from fans across the globe to finish what has been splendidly started.

Filoni is playing his role of the supervising director and guider of the series, who was enthusiastic talking about the show’s return. He said that this was a surprise return, even to him! He acknowledged the support and request from the vast fanbase to revive the show: “It’s been very humbling to have their support and to have people continue to hashtag me, “#SaveTheCloneWars.”

When asked on how the fans are still sticking to it, he said that it was the variety of the stories and inspiring a generation. He pointed out that some old Star Wars fans might have overlooked the animated series, but that didn’t stop the franchise to gain new and younger fans.

May the force be with you, Dave! Thanks for the long-awaited revival.

Stay tuned to know about dates and more details on the new season.
