Verizon has been America’s one of top communication service providers. Verizon had been working on providing 5G service. So the communication giant has been eyeing either Apple or Google to partner up for its new 5G project. They want Apple or Google to serve as its provider for 5G video. Verizon has taken this initiative further as the company is already in talks with Apple and Google as potential partners. The new service is reportedly to launch later this year in a pair of California market.

The report of a possible collaboration has come from “a person familiar with the situation.” Verizon is to announce their quarterly earnings on Tuesday and that said insider person has asserted that the company, in all probability, will give updates concerning the Verizon 5G TV plans. The partnership that the company is currently talking about would be either with Apple TV or Google’s YouTube TV. Of course, taking either Apple or Google’s help is not going to be their final resort. Verizon, in the future, will obviously launch a video service itself.

But until then, the partnership with either Apple or Google may function as a temporary “showcase” for the technology. Verizon’s plan so far is to beam online services to home receivers at 5G speed and later they will compete with Comcast and AT&T’s landline services.

The service will first be launched on Los Angeles and Sacramento and later this year, the service will be available to two other cities as well. Previously, Verizon had been working on an ITT TV service. But according to recent news, they have pulled out from that project and are currently focusing on providing a 5G network. 5G network is expected to roll out at the beginning of this year but it would not be available on the 2018 iPhone generation.
