In the Nintendo Nindies Showcase Summer 2018 that took place on the 28th of August, 2018, Nintendo announced the release of a diverse lineup of games from independent developers for Nintendo Switch, including indie hits like Into the Breach, Hyper Light Drifter – Special Edition and TowerFall, as well as first-time releases like Zarvot and Bullet Age. Steve Singer, Vice President for Nintendo of America’s Publisher & Developer Relations team, stated that “the ever-growing community of talented independent developers sees the benefit of releasing creative games on the versatile Nintendo Switch, a system that can be played at home or on the go. We are happy to support their work and contributions on our platform as we further grow our strong relationship.”

Into The Breach, the hit turn-based strategy game, where players have to defend against the Vek infestation across islands, will be available in Nintendo Switch effective immediately.

In the Nintendo Switch version of the critically acclaimed action/adventure Hyper Light Drifter – Special Edition newer features such as an exclusive outfit to locate hidden items, new weapons like the Crystal Shot and deadly Blade Caster, can be pre-purchased. The game launches on Nintendo Switch on September 6.

The indie game TowerFall, famous for its fast-paced gameplay and raucous local multiplayer matches, is available on Nintendo Switch for pre-purchase with all the original and add-on content, as well as a new six-player battle mode, four additional Variants and the ability to play as Madeline and Badeline, two characters from indie game ‘Celeste’. It releases on September 27.

The co-op action game Bullet Age features challenging platforming, fully upgradable weapons and a charming cartoon art style with an impressive HD Rumble during attacks and locating hidden secrets, and launches as a console exclusive on Nintendo Switch this November.

Treasure Stack with its innovative hook shots and grappling hooks added to the traditional falling block puzzle formula will launch on Nintendo Switch this winter enabled with cross-platform play with Xbox One and PC and more number of players.

More games coming to Nintendo Switch in 2018 include the following:

The Messenger (August 30), Bastion (September 13), Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut (September 13), Undertale (September 18), Light Fingers (September 20), Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP (October), Jackbox Party Pack 5 (October), Transistor (November), Desert Child (December) and Dragon Marked for Death (December 13).
The next year has the following games lined up for Nintendo Switch:
Mineko’s Night Market will be the favorite of cat-lovers (and all animal-lovers) with its 20+ hours of story-based gameplay, including exploration of four regions, meeting diverse villagers, undertaking varied quests and participating in various activities such as sewing and woodworking. It launches on the Nintendo Switch consoles in early 2019.

The sequel to the original Bushido brawler, Samurai Gunn 2 features a new adventure mode with Classic Versus Mode and up to four players battling it out in sword-and-gun battles. It launches in early 2019.

Influenced by anime, The World Next Door is a story-driven game with a rebellious teenage girl trapped in a parallel world inhabited by magical creatures, featuring an eclectic cast of characters by means of a reputation system and dialogue based on player choice. It can be availed on Nintendo Switch in early 2019.

The fast-paced, hat-based party game King of the Hat contains short action-packed matches and a simple two-button control and launches in early 2019.

The Untitled Goose Game is a game that defies all genres with its contents constituting part stealth, part sandbox, and all goose simulators. It launches in early 2019.

The showcase also announced the launch of the Indie Channel on Nintendo Switch which will entirely focus on indie games; it can be found by searching in “Find Channels” in the handy News app.
