Users of iPhones and iPad who have upgraded to iOS 12 beta have been receiving incorrect prompts to update their device to their latest beta release, even though there is no update available. The pop-up reads, “A new iOS update is now available. Please update from the iOS 12 beta.”

9to5Mac’s Gui Rambo has indicated the presence of a bug in iOS 12 beta 11 that makes it think the expiration date for this particular build is imminent, which shouldn’t be the case as this build was released only earlier this week.

There have been complaints on Twitter and the MacRumors forums that this iOS 12 update popup apparently keeps appearing every time an iOS 12 beta running device is unlocked and has to be manually dismissed each and every time before it can be accessed. This issue has been occurring since the release of the latest beta build in August, and it looks like the popups have now increased in frequency.

It seems like the user cannot fix this erroneous issue anytime soon. Moreover, whether there is a server-side fix available for the issue or if Apple will have to build a whole new update altogether is ambiguous.

The extensive iOS 12 beta period has seen a total of 11 releases since mid-June. It is expected that Apple will publicly release the stable version of iOS 12 next month after the unveiling of its brand-new iPhone XS and Apple Watch Series 4.
