Xiaomi launches Mi A2 and A2 Lite Powered by Android One in the UAE

The Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi which is a rage all over the world, released a pair of affordable phones, the flagship of Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite, globally around 24th July. Today the smartphones have also been announced in the UAE at a press event held in Dubai.

Both the handsets are programmed to be a part of Google’s Android One and will run on Android 8.1 Oreo. While Xiaomi Mi A2 features a 5.99-inch screen with a 2.5D curved glass display and a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels combining an aspect ratio of 18:9, Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, which is the Android One version of Redmi pro, has a smaller screen size of 5.84 inches full HD+ 2.5D curved glass display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9.

Coming to the performance, Mi A2 will pack octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Soc paired with Adrenal 512 GPU and A2 Lite and will be powered by Snapdragon 625 Soc with Adrenal 506 GPU. Two variants of A2 will be available in UAE, 4GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage and 6GB RAM with 128 GB storage.

Mi A2 Lite too will have two variants, a 3 GB RAM version with 32 GB storage and a 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage. In terms of battery, however, Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite exceeds A2 as it will be powered by a 4,000 mAh battery to A2’s 3,010 mAh. Connectivity remains more or less the same for both with dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth (5 LE for A2 and 4.2 for A2 Lite) and GPS. Mi A2 has an additional USB-type C port and Quick Charge 3.0 support.

Xiaomi Mi A2 features a dual camera setup on the rear, a combination of a 12 MP primary camera paired with a Sony IMX486 sensor and f/1.75 aperture, and a secondary 20MP camera with a Sony IMX376 sensor with f/1.75 aperture. The device sports a 20 MP front camera, a Sony IMX376 sensor, and a LED flash. A2 Lite to sports a dual camera set up at the back with a 12MP primary camera with Sony IMX486 sensor phase detection autofocus, f/2.2 aperture and a secondary 5MP camera with Samsung S5K5E8 sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The phone has a 5 MP front camera.

The Mi A2’s 4GB|64GB variant bears the price of AED 919, while the 6GB|128GB variant will come at the price of AED 1,079. The 3GB|32GB model of A2 Lite is priced at AED 619, and the 4GB|64GB variant will be available at AED 749. Mi A2 will be available in Black, Red, and Gold colors, while A2 Lite has no colors mentioned.
