With just 13 days left for the launch of OnePlus 6T, the expectancy is built up to the maximum. Social media posts have already teased the fanbase with various speculations. And it’s finally off the hook that the most expensive OnePlus flagship device will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. This news has received official confirmation from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau in a forum post; the new phone will welcome the new in-display fingerprint scanning technology, which has been named Screen Unlock by the tech giant.

A new teaser video released on Youtube also showcases this upcoming feature. This video shows the fingerprint scanner at the bottom of the screen, which lights up for a couple of seconds before turning off. The caption states, “A key innovation lies just beneath the surface. Prepare for the #OnePlus6T” which is almost a direct way of announcing that the 6T will be dropping the fingerprint scanner at the rear end. The teaser also shows an edge-to-edge display with bezels tending to almost zero. A faint impression of the fingerprint could be noted at the edge.

Vivo was the first smartphone to introduce this feature earlier this year, but claims from OnePlus asserts that it will be faster than any of its rival technologies. The screen unlock technology will be powered by a new optical fingerprint module comprising a small lens to accurately register the saved fingerprint once pressed against the screen. The screen will light up once as you place your finger on the screen to enable the outline of the fingerprint to be read more precisely. Next, the fingerprint information is stored in Snapdragon’s 945 Trust Zone section. This ensures claims of authenticity and safeguards against false patterns.

Through the use of several software algorithm , Screen unlock will learn to recognize your fingerprint with higher accuracy through extended use. Screen Unlock marks a momentous leap forward in unlock technology, delivering unmatched speed and convenience. The Screen Unlock Technology had been tried for a longer time and there were plans of implementing it on the OnePlus 5T. – Pete Lau’s

As the successor to the widely acclaimed OnePlus 6, 6T comes with everything better – a 6.4inch Optic AMOLED full HD+ display with a waterdrop notch, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and a 3,700 mAh battery. It has already been heard that OnePlus 6T will be ditching the 3.5 mm headphone jack and that certainly enables the edge-edge display and the in-display fingerprint scanner. The device will be available in 6GB and 8GB RAM versions with up to 256GB internal storage.
