Being one of the renowned companies, Huawei has undoubtedly provided its users with some brilliant gadgets to date. And Honor 8X, its recent offering is undeniably gaining a lot of popularity from a large number of smartphone users across the globe. With 6.5 inches HD+ display screen, this device features dual rear camera set up.

It is operated in HiSilicon Kirin 710 Processor and features 20 MP and 2 MP camera at the rear end whereas it sports a 16 MP camera at the front end to capture sharp and brilliant selfies. Honor 8X is especially known for its amazing design and premium features that you could hardly spot in another smartphone.

So is it worth buying this costly device? What all the exciting features does this phone have for you? let’s find out in this review:

Honor 8X specifications

The device has recently launched in Indian markets with 3 variants. Honor 8X consisting of 4GB of RAM paired with 64GB of inbuilt storage configuration comes with the cheapest (amongst its 3 variants) price tag of Rs. 15,000 whereas the expensive model comprising 128GB of internal memory and 6GB RAM is priced at Rs. 19,000. Apart from the internal memory and RAM, the device comes with a MicroSD slot that could be inserted in the left edge of the phone.

The device is available in Amazon and would be traded from 24th October. It comes in blue and red color options. Coming to the battery, it has a battery capacity of 3,750mAh. What’s more? you can avail a 3.5mm headphone jack, a mono speaker, a microSD card and more.

Design and features

Both the glass and metallic design of the smartphone together gives it an amazing look. The dual-tone slope in the aurora glass is what makes it a grand device. Though the designing is indeed impressive, it is quite tricky to see content in the bright sunlight. At the rear end of the model, you can spot dual camera sensors lined up upright with a fingerprint sensor positioned at the very center.

Although the device is a bit large in size, the sensors could easily be accessed through your index finger. It operates in Android 8.1 Oreo and comes up with plenty of pre-stacked tools including Compass, Weather, Game suite, mirror and some major applications like Facebook, Netflix, and Messenger.

Display

Honor 8X features 6.5-inch HD+ display with 2340*1080 screen resolution and 19:5:9 aspect ratio. The mini notch cited at the top of the screen accommodates the front camera, microphone, and diverse sensors. Users get an array of display customization options including switching the text style, changing color temperature, and adjusting font size. You can even cover the upper screen notch to get full-screen benefits.

Not only does the device helps you watch your favorite movie or play a plethora of games in a ‘Full-Screen mode’ but it’s Night Mode filter is specially designed to help users to diminish eye strain by turning on its filter mode. While using the handset during the night time, turn on the night mode or adjust the color temperature to reduce eye strain.

Inbuilt Storage and RAM

As mentioned, the phone comes with 3 variants each comprising distinct inbuilt storage and random access memory. If you find it troublesome to store multiple applications and games on your device due to lack of sufficient memory, it is worth buying Honor 8X with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM variant.

Even the cheapest variant of the model features a considerable amount of memory to store a host of apps. Now coming to the performance, even after testing it while performing multitasks on the device i.e. checking Instagram, playing candy crush, or watching ‘Infinity War’, the device performed quite well without any issue.

Camera

As mentioned, Honor 8X sports a dual camera set up at the rear end featuring 20MP and 2MP sensors whilst 16MP front camera supporting portrait mode. The camera lenses of the handset sports PDAF (phase detection autofocus). Both the rear end camera has Al support and can identify over 500 diverse pictures and approximately 22 categories at once.

Under proper lighting state, Honor 8X camera is capable enough to identify the real-time picture and captures vivid shots. In addition to portrait mode, it supports Night mode, AR lens, Pro mode, and Aperture. The front camera is brilliant to take some quality and detailed selfies.

Battery capacity

Talking about the battery, it has a decent battery capacity of 3,750mAh and comes with 5V/2A charger, while tested for the battery, the phone survived 12 hours of continuous functioning. As per the test conducted, users can play a variety of games, use the internet browser, click selfies, and operate social media application all at once. If you don’t use your smartphone frequently, this device can last for more than 24 hours. Besides that, the model offers you essential battery saving mode which can regulate the background activities, limit the visual effects, and stop email syncing.

Other features

As expected, Honor 8X features a face recognition system to unlock the handset quickly, however, the feature doesn’t perform well under very-dim light or bright sunlight. Using the fingerprint reader, users can easily enter File Safe as well as App Lock features. Other essential features include the party mode that plays your favorite and most played music and Ride mode.

Final Verdict

Honor 8X is providing its customers with a premium and amazing design for its hefty price tag. Of course, the 6.5 inches HD+ display screen can help you watch exciting movies on a large screen. The device is quite good for the gamers, however, when it comes to high-graphic games, it somewhere lacks the ability to let the users play it with high-quality settings. The camera is undoubtedly superb but it is recommended to not use the Al feature to click sharp and detailed photographs.

All in all, if you’re looking out for a handset that comes with a vibrant display, superb camera, big screen, a decent battery backup, and good audio quality, Honor 8X can turn out to be a best possible option.
