Xiaomi is one of the biggest electronics companies in the world; the Chinese electronics company has been expanding their list of products consistently, presenting their users with a great variety of products like bulbs, shoes, air purifiers, lamps, toothbrushes, and not to forget their wide range of smartphones. One of the things that Xiaomi consumers have been asking for a long time is a Kindle-like eReader, and now it seems that the company may as well be looking into developing their very own eReader, based on a positive reply to a tweet by Xiaomi Senior ProductDirector, Li Chuangqi, on 21st November.

A few Mi Engineers on the forum have attested to the fact that Xiaomi had indeed completed a prototype of the device in 2017, but since the company was focusing on developing smart home products at that time and other things minimal demand and less monetary profit factored in, the project to develop an eReader got sidelined.

But now that the demand for an eReader has increased, and since the company had not entirely discarded the idea of an eReader, along with the fact that Xiaomi has strengthened its sale and marketing network around the world in the last couple of years, this may be the right time that the company had been waiting for to develop an eReader of its own. And this speculation has partially been confirmed by Xiaomi insiders, and Chuangqi’s latest response only fuels the fire of hope.
