In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, Facebook has come together with PayPal to raise up to $7 million in donations on 27th November 2018 to match donations made on Facebook to nonprofits.
Outlining the rules for donating, Facebook has said that it shall start matching donations with PayPal commencing at 8 a.m. ET (5:00 am PT) on Tuesday, 27th November, and the offer shall expire once a cap of $7 million is reached or the time is 11:59 p.m. All the donations will be matched dollar for dollar on a first-come, first served basis, and shall be available for any eligible US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that can receive donations on Facebook. Donations up to $250k per nonprofit and $20k per donor shall be eligible for being matched.
“This year, I’m thrilled to share that PayPal is partnering with Facebook to match 100% of donations made on Giving Tuesday, up to a total of $7 million, to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits. This marks the largest match program in the history of Giving Tuesday, a movement PayPal has championed since its inception in 2012. The donation match will be one of the many ways we celebrate Giving Tuesday and the spirit of giving throughout the holiday season. – Franz Paasche, SVP, Corporate Affairs, PayPal
“We believe everyone should be able to participate and thrive in the global economy – from seamless commerce transactions to giving to a favorite cause. Partnering with companies like Facebook directly supports our vision for helping people support their favorite causes, wherever and whenever they are inspired to make a difference,” Paasche added.
