Winter has officially come!

After much speculation, HBO has finally released the first official teaser for Game of Thrones Season 8 following an appearance at Brazil’s CCXP convention from star Maisie Williams and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

In the last season, the Night King got control of one of Daenerys’ dragons by dragging its corpse out of the ice and resurrecting it for his uses. It already feels like we’ll be in that troll territory in no time. This time in Season 8, his army of White Walkers is quickly approaching the world of men to get fans excited for the eighth and final season. Although this is the first official teaser by HBO, we are to see a dozen thrilling videos like this before the favorite game show finally hits in the spring.

The teaser begins with ice engulfing a statute of a dire wolf, the sigil of House Stark. The ice then moves ahead and freezes over a dragon statue, the sigil of House Targaryen. Next, big flames engulf a lion statue, the sigil of House Lannister. The battle seems intense as the teaser shows a dragon and a dire wolf being overtaken by ice and a lion being consumed by fire.

HBO announced the date for the final season in November in a promotional video; the season is all set to premiere on April 2019. The Game of Thrones is a fictional story from George R.R. Martin’s novels about the pursuit to claim the Iron Throne alive. It has captured global fans for the twists and turns, ruthless killing scenes, and unexpected deaths all wrapped up with emotion and drama.

The show brought actors like Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Iwan Rheon into the spotlight, making them global iconic stars. Although the flagship series is ending, Game of Thrones will return with six episodes from April 2019.
