Epic Games is (much) best known for its success from Fortnite: Battle Royale Game. But the company owns other games, such as the Infinity Blade trilogy, which is ceasing to exist.

The developer removed from the App Store today (10) of all three episodes of the saga, which have been there for quite some time. The first title was released in 2010, while the latest – and most up-to-date – came in 2013. Today, however, their download has been turned off, and well, the news is not good because it’s not a provisional decision.

According to the global creative director of Epic, the development of new projects like Spyjinx made it particularly difficult to continue feeding the games at that time. So in his words, “despite the bittersweet taste,” Infinity Blade is reaching its final cycle of life.

The only game to be upgraded for a few more months will be Infinity Blade III, which of course will continue with an active support team from the community. All three, however, have already had the microtransactions disabled.

The discontinuation draws attention primarily because Apple used to promote the franchise at its developer events by showing how it possessed a unique and important product on its platform. The first episode was nominated for the 2011 Apple Design Awards and won.

Remember, Epic Games has launched the Epic Store to hit Steam. This may have been a decision that influenced the downsizing of other divisions to focus on the platform’s efforts.

If you have purchased any of the titles previously they will remain available for download. But well, the wake-up mood should reign in the coming weeks. So enjoy the symbolic burial.
