PUBG Mobile is giving tough competition to the famous establishment of Fortnite. A recently released report by the Verge shows that PUBG Mobile has the same number of players as Fortnite. Both PUBG Mobile and Fortnite have 200 million users worldwide as of yet. In the case of PUBG, this count for the players is based on its mobile platform alone. The count does not include other platforms such as PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
The total player count crossed 200 million in November 2018. However, the total number of players of PUBG may exceed Fortnite players simply because the count is based on mobile users alone. This count of 200 million players also does not take into account the Chinese player base. Before the PS4 version released earlier this month, PC and Xbox One had already sold more than 50 million units in total of PUBG game.
This striking number of sales is due to the fact that PUBG has been able to achieve popularity and a stable fan-base since the time of its launch. Although Fortnite did catch the attention of the world by introducing Thanos from Avengers: Infinity War in the fight, PUBG has been able to remain afloat for their own sake, and recently PUBG launched the snowy map of Vikendi on the test server of PS4. PUBG won the awards for Best Game, Fan Favorite, and Most Competitive Fame at the Google Play Awards.
PUBG officials released a statement regarding the remarkable response that the game received, saying, “The game was included in Apple’s ‘Game Trend of the Year’ category representing the explosive battle royale genre and in its ‘Top Games Charts of 2018’ as one of the most downloaded games.” There are over 30 million daily active players across PUBG mobile whereas Fortnite has just about 8.3 million players per day.
