Disney bought LucasFilm in 2012 for “mere” $4 billion, a figure that is nowhere near the recently acquired $70 billion deal that Disney paid to take Fox. In addition to being a relatively inexpensive buyout, the media conglomerate quickly recovered the investment by releasing new movies, animated series, short films, toys, virtual reality experiences, and games.

However, a great expectation of the public has always been to see a theme park for the franchise, and well, Disney has advanced plans for that, with a promise to open for 2019.

Two major attractions will be available as early as next year. One of them is a replica of Millennium Falcon, by Han Solo and currently Rey. There will also be an experience called Rise of the Resistance, which Disney describes as the company’s largest and most immersive park experience ever.

The park will offer material to fans who have been around the franchise for decades and those who have started now: everything will be mixed, whether it was for the ’80s or the new trilogy.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open its doors next summer, starting in June and ending in September. There will be two locations where franchise experiences can be checked: Disneyland of Anaheim, California, as well as Walt Disney World Resort, Florida.

Remember, next year, Disney will launch its Disney+ streaming platform. In it, users can check out most of their products in one place. However, it may be that the original Star Wars trilogy takes some time to appear there, thanks to an agreement made in the past between LucasFilm and Turner.
