Only a few months ago since Google announced the support for folding phones on Android, coinciding with the first rumour about Samsung and its possible folding phone. It is expected that 2019 will be the year of the folding phones, and on January 3, we have the first tests of a phone with these features in use, and it seems that it will be from Xiaomi.

Not only Samsung or Huawei wanted to present folding phones in 2019. It seems that Xiaomi also has an ace in the sleeve with this leaked phone. The foldable Xiaomi mobile seems to be a reality and has been leaked in a very interesting video today. It is expected that both Samsung and Huawei will present their large devices with folding screens this year, which Xiaomi also seems interested in joining. It does not seem to be a trend that is going to become fashionable, but every manufacturer wants to have their bet on this market as soon as possible.

The 20-second clip published by Evan Blass on Twitter shows a folding device in Chinese. Not much is known about the possible manufacturer, although the customization layer UI showcased in the video is running is MIUI 10, created by Xiaomi.

The interesting thing about the video begins when the Google Maps application opens. In the beginning, it is placed horizontally as if it were a Tablet, but after the first bending, the interface is updated and adapted to the new size. However, after the second bend, the width and height of the interface are updated again.

When closing Google Maps, the user returns to the home screen and proceeds to use the phone completely folded, as if it were any current phone.

No further information about this device aside from what is shown in the video is known yet. Unfortunately, the leaked video was captured in a very dark environment. Although the user experience seems very smooth, a phone that doubles its screen in three and folds back to one is the next step revolution in the mobile industry; it would be interesting to see if Xiaomi decides to launch this device for mass consumers.
