CES is one of the biggest events of the year for electronics innovators to introduce their latest technologies, and LG seems to be all set for CES 2019, to be held in Las Vegas from January 8, with a bunch of giant 8K TVs.

A press release revealing a part of LG’s innovations to be showcased at this year’s CES entailed details regarding the company’s new improvements to its pre-existing TV sets. Besides the introduction of the new LG ThinQ AI, a “deep learning algorithm” that shall make the LG TVs content look and sound its best, irrespective of the room the viewer is in.

Powered by the Alpha 9 Gen 2 processor which is being used in LG’s newer sets, the ThinQ AI “recognizes content source quality and determines the best upgrade method for optimal visual output,” revealed the press release. Its additional features include using the TV’s ambient light sensor to smartly deduce the conditions of the room where the TV is situated and adjust the screen brightness accordingly.

In the process, the ThinQ AI also refines the display of HDR contents to ensure perfect clarity of scenes and images. Besides ThinQ AI’s video refining qualities, it can also work its magic on the TV’s sound quality, including mixing up two-channel audio to provide the audience with 5.1 surround sound.

The Alpha 9 Gen 2 and ThinQ have been included in LG’s newest models, with notable mentions among the TVs receiving these features being the 88-inch 8K Z9 OLED TV and 75-inch 8K LCD TV (model SM99). Besides its own algorithm, LG shall also be continuing its partnership with Amazon in 2019, and all ThinQ models will feature support for Amazon’s Alexa.
