CES 2019: Dell Announces Alienware M15 and M17 Laptops With Nvidia RTX Support

Dell today unveiled its new Alienware m15 and m17 gaming laptops during CES 2019, with support of Nvidia’s RTX ray tracing technology, and introduced its new features during the event. The gaming laptop for players needs to be robust in their specifications and design; surely that’s why Dell has launched the two new Alienware built entirely in a magnesium and copper alloy, which not only make them resistant but also make them look very elegant.

These devices had already been announced at the end of last year, but Dell brought an update with support for Nvidia RTX for them. The new feature aims to turn the devices into the most powerful options for notebooks in the gaming segment.

Launched in October, the first Dell Alienware m15 and m17 were paired with a 1070 Max-Q and 8th Gen i7 8750H graphics card. The new version has been upgraded to an i8-8950HK processor, and the options for either the RTX 2060, 2070 or 2080. The 2060 version has the 6GB option of GDDR6 VRAM, while the latter two are 8GB.

With heavy configurations, the m15 will take full advantage of the Cryo-Tech 2.0 cooling system already introduced. Featuring a load-balanced dual-input dual exhaust fan design, the m15 and m17 are designed to counteract any thermal problems the user may encounter during a game. Both computers incorporate six illuminated zones that can be configured independently, a central command to manage the system’s internal behavior and obtain greater performance in video games and reduce the load, to improve a specific bandwidth to improve the performance of the graphics chipset.

Dell laptops are not the lightest on the market, but they are less heavy than the huge Dell Alienware Area 51m that weighs about 20 iPhone XS Max (for weight comparison in general). The m15 weighs 2.16 kilograms, and the m17 weighs 2.63 kilograms. Ray-tracing technology has finally been deployed in notebooks, making the device gamers even more interesting. The m17 has an i9 processor and the latest Nvidia graphics card and will be available for purchase from January 21. Prices start at $1,579.99 and the m15 costs from $1,649.99.
