YouTube for Android is rolling out an updated voice search with a better theme and easy usage. A new voice input UI for a better-customized interface with the ability to lookup queries by voice.

The new YouTube voice search will prompt you to search with the voice by tapping on the microphone icon at the top right corner. A big red button at the bottom throbs as you speak to YouTube, with listening timing out just after a few seconds. To return to the system, there’s a close button in the top-left corner, or users can return with system navigation.

Last year in May, the YouTube Voice remote showed up as a floating action button in the app, allowing users to use YouTube TV by issuing voice commands. For example, by saying “go back to my last channel” or “Play NBC.” The new update of YouTube for Android is something very similar to that.

This feature is unusual, particularly for the users, because a voice remote support page popped up several months ago, and the feature never showed up in the app until last year. Meanwhile, the new YouTube voice search is much more powerful as it lets you navigate to different parts of the app directly. “Show me trending videos” will navigate users to the Trending tab. In the past, that same command would just perform a search with that phrase verbatim.

Voice search still functions as a way to lookup videos without typing, rolling out with version 13.50.52 on Android.
