WhatsApp is reportedly working on making its security system airtight by including what may be called WhatsApp fingerprint authentication made for Android users. Previously it was assumed that WhatsApp would bring forth the WhatsApp Dark Mode, which was scheduled to be out along with the Android Q update. WhatsApp started working with the Face ID and Touch ID integration for iOS but did not make the cut since some development issues were related to it.

Proceeding forward, they have started working on the WhatsApp fingerprint authentication for Android OS. WABetaInfo has reported that the WhatsApp beta has already been rolled out for Android 2.19.3. This beta version will apparently feature fingerprint authentication. A new section in the WhatsApp app will host the authentication option, and the users need to authenticate themselves in order to open the app. This feature will also be available for iOS in the near future.

If, for some reason, WhatsApp is unable to detect someone’s fingerprint, they can log in using their device’s credentials and open the app. Once fully developed, this feature will be made available to all WhatsApp users on Android Marshmallow and above.

The inclusion of fingerprint authentication is not the sole update that the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.3 has to offer. Apart from that, the new update will come with an improved Audio picker which will enable the users to preview the audio file before sending it; a new tray to open the audio files while mage preview of the audio file will also be made available, and the users will be able to send a maximum of 30 audio files at the same time. Regarding this, WABetaInfo has tweeted, “WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.1: WhatsApp is working on a newly redesigned section to send audio files to contacts.

It supports audio preview and image preview of the audio file (if available). Max 30 audio messages at a time.
