Twitter is starting new ways of displaying tweets, which will roll out as part of a beta program update. Twitter hasn’t changed much for ages, and now the popular social media platform is planning its most significant change in years. Some of the features that look exciting would go a long way in enhancing conversation on its platform.

The much-needed design change comes at a time when Twitter is looking to revamp the way people converse by reducing hateful and abusive discussions. The app will be available only to a select number of users who will get access to the new features. The beta app will be a standalone app, different from the regular Twitter app that we all use, and it will be a medium for all the testers to discuss the new features.

The new feature that Twitter is working on will come with color-coded replies, which will help users differentiate between responses from people they follow and from whom they don’t. Twitter may also soon hide hearts and favorite icons from its feed. They will not be withdrawn entirely but will be only visible when a user clicks or taps on a particular tweet.

Another feature that could roll out in the future is the ice breaker tweets, which will help start a conversation about a specific topic. An additional feature would also be enhanced that would let users attach tags to their tweets that explained what they were about for example, a TV show.

All these features are at the moment in the testing mode before its grand roll-out. Twitter will soon begin accepting applications from users in the upcoming weeks to participate in the beta program.
