4 Things you can expect from Twitter in 2019

Author at TechGenyz Contributor
Twitter Marketing

Most companies have already rolled out their plans for 2019. Twitter has not been left behind. This social media platform is prepared to go the extra mile to meet their customer’s needs.

Already, Twitter is working on new features. These features will make it easier for customers to grow their businesses to the next level. For instance, it has also entered into many deals to help businesses leverage their operations. This article looks at the things that people should expect from Twitter in 2019.

1. Redeeming Coupons

This is a new feature that will allow consumers to sync their credit and debit cards with twitter. They will also be able to redeem their coupons in physical retail stores or online. The feature will enable advertisers to add digital coupons within their tweets.

It means that Social Media Daily users who will see the tweets will have a chance to claim the offer. They will do this by linking their debit or credit cards to Twitter. They will be able to redeem the coupons in retail stores or online. Already, Twitter has started allowing businesses to link retail sales to digital marketing.

2. Going Back To the Chronological Feed

We have had complaints about Twitter’s algorithm system that was adopted two years ago. It has forced Twitter to start planning to revert back to the chronological new feeds. The company has announced that it is working on ways to allow users to have total control of their timeline.

What this means is that users will choose to have the best tweets given the first priority. It will give followers the option of switching to favorite tweets any time they feel like. By showing the best tweets at the top, it will make Twitter more useful and relevant. In 2016, Twitter adopted Facebooks style of making use of the algorithm. This was intended to help offer relevant messages to users. Also, it was meant to help stimulate engagement and growth.

3. Repurchase Convertibles Notes

In 2014, Twitter offered $1 billion convertible notes to the public. It gave the buyers a right to have them exchanged for equity upon maturity. These convertible notes allowed investors to participate in the stock market. Also, it allowed Twitter to use the proceeds for corporate purposes. But, in 2019, part of the convertible notes will be maturing. So it is expected that the company will repurchase all the matured notes.

4. Streaming NBA Matches

NBA has signed a deal with Twitter to stream live some of the 2019 matches. Twitter has agreed to stream both regular and playoff matches. In the new arrangement, Twitter will use a one camera feed where the focus will be on just one player.

Viewers will choose the player they want to be focused on before the start of the match. According to Twitter, this arrangement will increase opportunities to engage the fans. It will also increase their interaction with NBA’s twitter account. If implemented, it will enhance participation among the 27.6 million fans that follow NBA.

Of course, there are many other things that people expect from Twitter in 2019. But reverting back to the chronological feed and allowing users to redeem coupons are on the top of the list. More offers will be announced as time goes by.
