On Sunday at MWC 2019 in Barcelona, LG launched three new models in its ThinQ range – the LG G8 ThinQ, the LG G8s ThinQ, and the LG V50 ThinQ 5G. A new feature called Hand ID, which allows palm vein authentication, has been introduced to the G8 models. Users can now unlock their phones just by hovering their hands over the display. Another major addition is a Crystal Sound OLED, which kills the insufficiency of an earpiece or front speakers unnecessary. Besides, the bottom BoomBox Speaker is retained, now available with stereo output.

The LG G8 ThinQ is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance and MIL-STD 810G for durability. Features like Air Motion, enabled by the ToF Z Camera, make actions like receiving/ending calls, taking screenshots, as well as adjusting volume remarkably simple with gestures. The ToF Z Camera further enhances the Bokeh effect and Video Portrait mode, besides making 3D-based face recognition more secure by detecting photographs. According to the South Korean electronics giant, the LG G8s ThinQ provides similar features as the G8 ThinQ but at a lower and “competitive price.

Although LG has released the color variants of the LG G8 ThinQ, namely Carmine Red, New Aurora Black, and New Moroccan Blue, the South Korean company has withheld the prices or information regarding the availability of the smartphones as of now. But it is expected to be revealed before they are made available in markets.
