Nintendo has announced the Nintendo Labo cardboard-building concept VR Kit for Switch, which combines the physical and digital gameplay of Nintendo Labo with necessary virtual reality technology to create a shareable and straightforward virtual reality experience. It looks like they have brought in a rather unusual way in the form of the Nintendo Labo VR Kit.

While rumors of a Nintendo Switch VR accessory have been circulating for over a year, perceived technical limitations of the Switch made it seem more pipe dream than a potential product. But by pairing a seemingly less intensive VR experience with its cardboard DIY accessories, the company may have discovered a way to circumvent the burdensome processing requirements associated with today’s VR-capable machines.

The Nintendo VR headset is easy to use, without any head-strap affixed. This means that users can easily hold it to their eyes for shorter and more casual experiences.

The Nintendo Labo VR Kit is to be priced at $80 for the full set. This includes the software, goggles, and five cardboard designs that are shown on the box. There will also be a cheaper starter kit priced at $40, including the software, goggles, and blaster/rifle design. The additional designs are expected to be made available later on as an expansion.

The Nintendo Labo VR kits are set to arrive on April 12th. Pre-orders are available now.
