ZTE regularly comes out surprisingly. In 2017, the company introduced the Axon M, a foldable smartphone with two separate screens. The Chinese manufacturer also regularly shows interesting concepts such as the ZTE Iceberg, a telephone with two notches at the top and bottom of the display. Or the recently shown ZTE Axon V, a full-screen phone with a notch on the side. We also recently wrote about a ZTE foldable smartphone.

This time ZTE has filed a design patent for a full-screen smartphone. It concerns two patents, both of which were filed with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) in mid-2018 and were published on 5 April 2019.

Full-screen ZTE phone with a triple camera

The first model shows a ZTE phone that only consists of a screen on the front. The smartphone appears to be paper thin. The rear houses a triple camera with flash. A physical button can only be found on the right-hand side. In addition, a connector has been made at the bottom.

This smartphone shows many similarities with the ZTE Axon V shown last month, the concept model that SlashGear reported also had a full screen display and a vertically placed camera with a flash in between.

The patented mobile phone from ZTE, however, seems to have an extra camera at the rear, in addition to this model the strange notch on the side of the device is omitted. A fingerprint scanner is not visible with this smartphone and will therefore probably be placed under the screen.

ZTE telephone with a dual camera

The second model, which is patented, also shows an image-filling display on the front, although a recess for the receiver is still visible here. In addition, a different camera set-up was chosen. The rear corresponds to the Axon 9 Pro, this flagship was presented at IFA 2018.

We see a dual camera with the flash underneath. With this model, the fingerprint scanner can be found on the back. In addition, the top offers space for a 3.5 mm connection and the microphone. At the bottom, we see a connection for the charger. This ZTE telephone has three buttons, one on the left and two on the right.

Last month the Axon 10 Pro was introduced, this is the first 5G phone from ZTE. This smartphone has a small water drop notch, a triple camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

So it is not the case that we are dealing with the successor to the Axon 9 Pro. The patented design may well be meant for the cheaper Blade series. The first mentioned design is probably intended for the advanced Axon series.
