LG is highly committed to audio. Earlier this year, the LG G8 ThinQ was equipped with sound-on-display technology. It is the first smartphone in the world where the screen functions as a speaker. But the Korean electronics giant also manufactures its own Bluetooth wireless headsets, under the brand name LG Tone. LG has already released dozens of variants. Requesting two new trademarks indicating that the company intends to announce two new wireless headsets soon.
LG Tone Flex and Tone Style wireless headset
LG Corp has registered two trademarks with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office). The applications for LG Tone Flex and LG Tone Style were submitted on 10 April 2019 by the German patent and law firm Cohausz & Florack.
The Düsseldorf company has acted often in the name of LG, as COHAUSZ & Florack late last year putting the brand LG K9s fixed, this smartphone was officially launched earlier this year. The trademark is categorized as Class 9, with the description; ‘wireless headset, earbuds, wireless speakers’.
LG Tone Flex seems to refer to a flexible headset. The current Tone stereo headsets are made of a hard, non-flexible material. With the Tone Style, the focus seems to be on the design. Possibly this will be a mid-range Bluetooth headset.
When the new Tone headsets will be introduced is as yet unknown. Last August, LG introduced the LG Tone Platinum SE and the Ultra SE at the IFA trade show. The former was equipped with the Google Assistant, while the other model has an external mono speaker. It is possible that LG will be exhibiting its new wireless headsets at IFA 2019. The annual tech fair will take place this year from 6 to 11 September in Berlin.
