In a new feature being tested, Google is attempting to provide users with cards for streaming services where users can watch the TV show or movie they are searching for. It is coming up as one of the primary results while searching for a movie or a TV show, and clicking on the logo on the card is directly redirecting the user to the webpage for the streaming service. The cards also mention whether the show at hand can be watched for free or needs a premium subscription to access.

The feature, first spotted by MetaReel, also comes with its own set of downsides. While the feature appears to be working for both mobile and desktop, it is restricted to limited users for now. And the streaming services being featured on the cards only include Hotstar and Sony LIV, while sites like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Eros Now, Voot, and Alt Balaji have been excluded from the same.

A native tool for easy access to streaming services for movies and TV shows on Google is a feature that shall undoubtedly be highly appreciated. Quartz had reported the development of such a feature last year, but it was not until now that the rumor had been substantiated. Google provides a similar service on Google Play Movies and TV, albeit not in India, and such a tool is also a provision on the Apple TV app.
