Since the announcement of the Samsung Environmental Declaration in 1992, Samsung has implemented a variety of environmentally responsible policies and technology that have made its industry-leading innovations more eco-friendly and sustainable. And now Samsung opts for Healthy Vertical Farming by putting the planet first.

Samsung Electronics has taken specific proactive steps to reduce its plastic footprint and raise awareness of plastic’s impact on the environment. Samsung plans to first, limit and eventually replace, plastic packaging from all its products. To help support its initiative, Samsung applies environmentally friendly materials instead of plastic and vinyl for packaging.

Samsung is skeptical about the growing amount of population on the planet which might reach 9.8 billion by 2050 which also hints that foods are required in larger quantities than available now. And with this problem approaching the planet, Samsung has addressed its potential solution for ample food products – healthy vertical farming. A process that is by far much popular in places like Europe, the U.S., and Japan.

Vertical farming is a process of producing food and medicine in vertically stacked layers, vertically inclined surfaces and integrated with other structures. The modern ideas of vertical farming use indoor farming techniques and controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) technology, through which all environmental factors can be controlled.

These facilities utilize artificial control of light, ecological monitoring and fertigation. Some vertical farms use techniques similar to greenhouses, where natural sunlight can be augmented with artificial lighting and metal reflectors.

Last year Samsung launched horticulture LED that produces a broad spectrum of light to support healthy plant growth. On April 23 LM301H introduced, which features the highest photon efficacy among today’s mid-power white LED packages. Samsung has also come up with its all-new Chef Garden technology, a next-generation Family Hub refrigerator that automatically regulates light wavelengths to enable users to grow and enjoy fresh food around the year.

Samsung is incredibly and remarkably putting the planet first!
