Xiaomi Redmi Y3, Redmi 7 and Mi LED Smart Bulb launched in India

At a launch event in India, Xiaomi launched two smartphones — Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 — and Mi LED smart bulb. Xiaomi contends that the Redmi Y3 is the company’s new selfie-focused smartphone with a 32MP front-facing camera. While the new budget smartphone Redmi 7 was a surprise launch from Xiaomi.

Talking about the highlights, Redmi Y3 sports a 32MP selfie snapper, making it the cheapest smartphone of the new slot. The selfie camera touts EIS, Full HD video recording, along with AI portrait mode. At the rear, Redmi Y3 has dual 12MP and 2MP rear cameras with EIS, AI scene detection and dual-LED flash.

Redmi 7 is the cheaper of the two yet comes with almost the same set of specifications. The main difference is the selfie camera which is an 8MP on the Redmi 7. The rear cameras are the same with a combination of 12MP and 2MP sensors.

Redmi 7 comes with the same 6.26-inch HD+ dot notch display. It also looks very similar to Redmi Y3 with a glass body. Xiaomi differentiates with the Redmi Y3 having an “Aura Prism Design” and “Auro Smoke Design.” Snapdragon 632 processor powers Redmi 7, but with 2GB RAM capacity. There’s also a 3GB+32GB storage variant of the Redmi 7.

Xiaomi has also launched Mi LED smart bulb. It can be controlled via Alexa, google assistant without the need for a bridge. The crowd-funding for this device will begin on mi.com on April 26 at noon.

As for the pricing Redmi Y3 is priced at Rs 9,999 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant and Rs 11,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB variant. Redmi Y3 will go on sales via Mi.com, Amazon and Mi home stores on April 30, 2019. Whereas Redmi 7 is priced Rs 7,999 for 2GB+32GB storage, Rs 8,999 for 3GB+32GB storage. The first sale will be on April 29. The device will be available via Mi.com, Mi home stores, and Amazon
