Mobile gaming is hot. Various manufacturers have since released a gaming smartphone. The first smartphone manufacturers have even set up their own gaming service. Apple introduced the Apple Arcade online gaming service earlier this year. The unlimited gaming subscription will be launched this fall. Samsung also seems to be about to unveil its new PlayGalaxy Link platform, which makes it possible to play online games via your Galaxy smartphone or tablet.

Samsung PlayGalaxy Link

Earlier this week, Samsung filed a trademark in America with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) for the name PlayGalaxy link. The trademark was published on 26 April in the trademark database of the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office).

The trademark is categorized as Class 9 and 41 and has an extensive description; smartphones; downloadable game software, service for online game tournaments, service for playing online Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality games, service accessible for mobile devices.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Samsung had found a partner in the Finnish company Hatch, a subsidiary of Rovio Entertainment (makers of Angry Birds). Together they have launched a new 5G cloud gaming service in Korea. Consumers who buy the Galaxy S10 5G there receive a free three-month Hatch Premium as a gift.

Whether the name PlayGalaxy Link refers to this new service is still unknown. The PlayGalaxy Link trademark is not applied in Korea but in America. Anyway, it seems that Samsung intends to soon announce its version of Apple Arcade for the American and perhaps also the European market.

The Korean manufacturer will probably also release a gaming smartphone by that time. It has been talked about for some time that Samsung is developing a Galaxy device that is focused on gaming, which will probably be accommodated within the Galaxy A series. If we have to believe the Samsung website, it is the Samsung Galaxy A90. This device has not been announced yet but is already mentioned at the bottom of the webpage for compatible devices for the new game Asphalt 9: Legends.
