Google presents the new Pixel 3A and the Pixel 3A XL

Google Pixel 3A and 3A XL

Google has now finally presented its “mid-range” Pixel. The new Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are already official, two new phones that keep the company’s DNA but reduce some features such as the processor to offer a more competitive price than its high-end brothers.

The new Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL differ basically in the size of the screen, but the two models have the OLED technology in common. It is usually easy to find many manufacturers who opt for IPS LCD panels in their cheaper phones, but here Google has wanted to maintain some features such as the ‘ambient display’ or ‘Playing Now’ that have been linked to the Pixel brand.

These new cheaper Pixels reduce in resolution, but it is something expected if we consider that the screen diagonal is smaller. Google Pixel 3a stays at 5.6 inches FullHD + in an 18.5: 9 format, while the Google Pixel 3a XL rises to 6 inches in 18: 9 format, without “notch“.

The design of the new members of the Pixel family is similar in appearance to the Pixels we already knew, with a two-tone rear piece, stereo speakers and the fingerprint reader on the back. For the crystal, this time it has opted for Dragon Trail.

The Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL will arrive with the same processor, although of course, they will not repeat with the Pixel 3 processor. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 is the one chosen for the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. A chipset that will arrive next to 4GB of RAM memory is LPDDR4X and Adreno 615 GPU.

For storage, Google has decided to bet on a single version with 64 GB, which will not be expandable through cards. In that sense, Google continues with the strategy of offering phones with relatively short storage so that we bet to expand it through your cloud.

The battery is another of the most important points in mobile and fortunately, the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL have been quite generous with it. The Pixel 3a comes with 3,000 mAh and fast charge of 18W, while the XL model rises to 3,700 mAh. It is not the largest amount of milliampere-hour we have seen, but it is a good amount of battery taking into account the small size of its screens. According to Google, the autonomy of the new Pixel 3a reaches 30 hours.

The Google Pixel is the representatives of Android and how could it be otherwise, these Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will come with Android 9.0 Pie and three years of assured updates. In addition, they will be among the first devices to receive Android Q when it becomes available.

Another feature that Google has maintained is ‘Now Playing’ to detect songs and ‘Active Edge’ to be able to squeeze the edges and activate features such as Google Assistant. Additionally, the Pixel 3a incorporates the Titan M security chip and free storage in Google Photos for the images made.

The Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL have the same Google camera we saw on their flagship. A unique 12.2-megapixel rear sensor with Dual Pixel technology, IMX 363 sensor, 1.4μm pixels and a lens with aperture f / 1.8.

In addition to having the same sensor, it also maintains several of the software features that have made Pixel popular. We talk about the portrait mode and night mode ‘Night Sight’, but also ‘Time Lapse’ to capture a moving image, ‘Photobooth’ mode to take a picture when it detects a smile or a kiss or the ‘Top Shot’ mode, That recommends the best photo.

For the front camera, the new Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL incorporate an 8-megapixel sensor with an aperture lens f / 2.0 and selfies of 84 degrees.
