Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL can be dubbed as middle class smartphones

Pixel 3a and 3a XL

Turing the search giant, Google Developers Conference has announced two low-Pixel smartphones. To date, Google has focused exclusively on the high-end smartphone market, with the Pixel 3a and 3a XL, however, the company takes a different approach. The new Google smartphones receive a suggested retail price of € 400 and € 480 respectively.

Affordable Google Pixel smartphones

It is also the first time that a Pixel smartphone is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone connection. This connection cannot be found on the more expensive models and came as a pleasant surprise to many. Another plus of the Pixel 3a smartphones is the fact that Google has chosen to use the same camera system as the more expensive Pixel 3.

That means that an 8 megapixel (f / 2.0) selfie camera is built in and a 12.2 megapixel (f / 1.8) camera with OIS on the back. Unlike other smartphone manufacturers, Google chooses not to work with multiple reads. Instead, highly intelligent software has been used, which means that excellent image quality can still be achieved, even in the evenings.

Differences between the Google Pixel 3 and the cheaper 3a can be found in particular in the applied processor and design. For example, the new models have a plastic rear, instead of glass. The plastic housing is also not waterproof. In terms of processor, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 chipset with 4GB RAM memory and 64GB storage memory were chosen. Unfortunately, there is no possibility to expand the memory, Google probably would prefer that you store all photos and videos in the cloud.

As the name suggests, the Google Pixel 3a XL model has a larger screen, it is a 6-inch OLED display with a Full HD + resolution and a screen ratio of 18: 9. With the 3a a 5.6-inch screen has been chosen, this is also a Full HD + OLED display. This makes this model one of the smallest smartphones currently available.

The two models also differ in terms of battery capacity. The Google Pixel 3a has a 3,000 mAh battery, the XL variant is equipped with a 3,700 mAh battery. The  Android 9 Pie smartphones come with an 18W charger. Incidentally, wireless charging is not supported, for this, you will have to divert to their more expensive brothers.

How to buy Google Pixel 3a

The new Google Pixel smartphones are available immediately in 13 countries, including America, Germany, France and the UK. In the Netherlands you cannot buy the new devices now, probably the phones will be offered for sale in our country at a later date via the gray import.

Consumers can purchase the Pixel 3A in two colors; Just Black and Clearly White, for a suggested retail price of € 400. The Google Pixel 3a XL is available in the same colors for a price of € 480 including VAT. The prices quoted are for a single device, without a telephone subscription.
