Huawei recently completed the world’s first 5G VoNR call in China. 5G enhanced technology R&D test organized by the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group, which marks the maturity of the 5G industry chain.

It is reported that the call is based on the 5G network built by Huawei. The two Mate 20X (5G version) mobile phones are located at two test sites in Beijing and Huairou, respectively, at least 60 kilometers apart, and the test distance is close to the commercial real scene. During the test, the two mobile phones made multiple voices and video calls, the connection rate was 100%, and the voice call voice was clear, which means that the VoNR call test under the world’s first 5G SA network was successful.

This 5G VoNR call uses Huawei’s end-to-end 5G commercial products to implement VoNR service bearer through a 5G new air interface. It verifies the 5G new air interface interoperability and 5G key technologies and realizes the interconnection between devices and networks under the new air interface standard.

The three major operators completed the three-phase test based on IMT-2020 (5G) and the terminal test at the beginning of the year. Therefore, the 5G VoNR call test successfully promoted the further trial of the 5G network trial commercial.

According to the news from the terminal manufacturers, the pre-commercial 5G networks of the three major operators are mainly aimed at Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. In the later period, the commercial city scope and user scale will be gradually expanded. According to the previous plan, the operator will formally test the commercial 5G network in the first batch of cities in the third quarter of this year.
