Gears of War 5: All about the great Microsoft game title for 2019

Gears of War

The Microsoft conference at E3 2018 was full of surprises and marked the way forward in the medium and long term. Among new acquisitions of studies and planned projects, one new game was announced: Gears 5. The new installment of the series that marked, along with Halo, the future of Xbox 360, was back in the hands of The Coalition, the studio that is dedicated to the series started by Epic Games more than 12 years ago. A title that is framed as a direct sequel to the fourth installment and that was located in 2019. Confirmed that this year is one of the great exclusives of Xbox, it is expected to be the key piece in the Xbox brand gearing this E3 2019 and in his conference scheduled for the weekend.

The Coalition focused on its development

Gears of War 4 is a game with enviable health. It's multiplayer, which has established itself is the best in the series - or at least for many concurrent players. It has been occupying workspace in the studio, but since this 2019 The Coalition has announced that it stopped launching content packs for focus fully with the fifth numbered delivery of the franchise.

Gears of War 4 hit full on a balanced multiplayer, but its result at the campaign level was somewhat less solid. With new mechanical enemies during the first part of the adventure and, then, yes, a horde that challenged us to the purest Locust style.

Precisely Rod Ferguson himself, head of the company, marks this fifth installment as the most important for the company. According to him in an interview, when they received the order for the fourth installment they were focused on doing something at the height of a saga that had been parked for a long time and did not want to revolutionize the formula or change too much. But now the series is in your hands and therefore, there are two elements that will make a difference in this delivery. On the one hand, changes in classical mechanics will be present and defining to date, with the promise of integrating new tactics to use and design changes in aspects of control.

On the other, variations in the way of telling the story. The story of Kait will be at the center of everything, and without going into spoilers, it is evident that the end of the game, with that medallion with a form linked to the locust and Queen Myrrah. Who knows if we are going to disengage those ties that seem to be between the two parties.

Larger levels, with exploration and new enemies

A leaked internal document from Microsoft indicated several of the elements that will mark the keys of the new Gears 5. Among them, two characteristics that can change the evolution of the game. The first, a title in which we should never fight alone, and hence the possibility of playing a split screen or through friends with crossplay. Thanks to the game developer for releasing it on Xbox One and PC. Although the coop has always been the hallmark of the saga, the fact that this point is highlighted may indicate that the title is much more focused on this than the single player.

The second, the exploration. The document talks about being able to explore Sera for the first time. "Travel glaciers, navigate deserts and descend through sunken ruins to discover the largest and most diverse world ever created for the saga." Does this mean that we can be in an open or semi-open world with missions that we can accept and go out to do? It is not ruled out, although perhaps only speaks of amplitude levels.

Available from the first day on Game Pass

When Microsoft announced that all of its exclusives would be released in Game Pass, that included future titles like Gears of War 5. To this, we must add that the announcement of the PC version of this service, which will be given more details during the E3, will also feature the game of The Coalition. Undoubtedly, a great attraction for the service that adds to the fact that the title will cross-play between platforms and, therefore, you can enjoy with friends have Xbox One or PC.

We will know more details of Gears of War 5 in the Microsoft conference of this E3 2019 scheduled for Sunday, where it is expected to showcase gameplay of Gears of War 5 and release date.
