The new feature will allow Indian users to choose the best available transport option by comparing the time taken to travel between two points by taking public bus and trains. Earlier Google introduced a new public transport mode in Google Maps – auto rickshaws and now it adds buses and trains.
Google maps can now let users see real-time updates of inter-state trains run by the Indian Railways. Currently, Maps has around 10,000 routes for which it can predict the transit time accurately. To use this feature you need to enter your starting location and destination, and then tap the transit tab. Google Maps can now also predict the travel time based on live traffic launching in Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Chennai, Mysore, Coimbatore, and Surat.
Finally, Google Maps will also combine public transport transit time, with how best to cover small distances while changing public transport. It will also provide with choices between walking and autorickshaw along with the time and fare. The feature will be rolled in Android.
