Baldur’s Gate III announced for Google Stadia and PC

Jun 6, 2019, 1:39 pm

Larian Studios is the team behind the development of Baldur’s Gate III, the expected third installment of the saga started by BioWare. The first rumors already pointed out that it would be the developers of Divinity who were taking charge of the project, but at first, they denied it, although later they dropped it. The reality is that the studio announced the game during the presentation of Google Stadia with a teaser trailer.

New story and characters

According to the press release, the game was created in collaboration with the Dungeons & Dragons team, as well as the Wizards of the Coast team. Baldur’s Gate III is based on the current rules of D & D, so the mechanics and spells have been updated keeping in mind the aforementioned rules.

The study promises that the new release will break the boundaries of the RPG genre and “offer a rich narrative” that will not ignore the player’s freedom or decisions. In addition, the game promises unique companions and a memorable battle system. “It’s Larian Studios’ biggest production and it will be playable as much as a one-player adventure as with friends.”

“Baldur’s Gate means a lot to a lot of people. It’s a great responsibility, but I think we’re ready for it, “said Swen Vincke, creative director of Larian Studios. “We are creating systemic worlds that respect the player.” In addition, he assures that they will be able to take advantage of the skills of the team “in a universe as rich as Dungeons & Dragons”.

On the other hand, Chris Cocks, president of Wizards of the Cost, has said that the collaboration with Larian combines his genuine passion with Dungeons & Dragons with his history of critically acclaimed titles. “We believe that fans of the Baldur’s Gate saga and even new ones will be happy to experience this epic story.” Larian Studios promises more information throughout the year.

Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate III are two original BioWare titles, meanwhile, was responsible for developing a remastered version that will soon come to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
