The company behind the Opera browser, Opera Software, launched a custom version of its browser named Opera GX dedicated to all PC gamers in the world. “A browser to perfectly match their beautiful machines,” said Kolondra is executive vice president of browsers at Opera, referring to the new Opera GX browser for Windows.

The Opera GX comes with certain dedicated features that let players limit the browser’s access to computer resources such as CPU and RAM. The browser’s central functionality is the GX Control panel, which lets users determine how much of the system’s CPU and RAM are allotted to the browser. The idea being that gamers can, say, stream content from Twitch while playing, without slowing their computer to a crawl.

Additionally, the new Opera browser also lets users log into a Twitch account straight from the sidebar. This will enable the user to get a notification when a Twitcher they follow begins a live stream. And there’s even a “speed dial screen” which includes shortcuts to sites the average gamer no doubt checks out regularly, like Reddit, YouTube, and Discord.

Toggling on the circle will let users set what percentage of the computer’s resources you’ll allow the browser to use, and Opera GX will stay within those limits. Unlike other “memory-hungry browsers,” the company adds in its announcement, as a dig at unnamed competitors.

In overall, Opera GX includes all the features present in Opera’s main desktop browser, currently used by over 65 million users. This includes its built-in ad blocker, support for detachable video popups, and a built-in VPN.
