The security company Cellebrite is known for offering different device unlocking services to authorities. In the past, they have been able to unlock the iPhone more than once to obtain internal data. Now they claim to have a new service with which they can unlock any iPhone and iPad until iOS 12.3 almost nothing.

Their biggest challenge and what they became famous for was helping the FBI unlock the iPhone 5c from the San Bernardino case, which Apple had totally opposed. But since then a lot of time has passed and their tools have also improved as Apple has improved the security of iOS.

As they announced, their new UFED Premium tool allows them to unlock and extract data from an iPhone or iPad that has an iOS version between iOS 7 and iOS 12.3. The company also claims to be able to access the main high-end Android devices. They indicated that it is an exclusive service to sell to the authorities as long as they apply the law.

What data can they extract? According to Cellebrite with UFED Premium, they can access data from third-party applications, chat conversations, emails and more. This is how they advertise on their website:

It seems that iOS 12.4, the latest version of Apple for iPhone and iPad devices, is not yet accessible to Cellebrite. As always, it’s a matter of time for both Apple to improve its security and patch the hole found by Cellebrite.

Cellebrite is an Israeli company specializing in the extraction of data in mobile devices, whose services are oriented to the resolution of police cases. They are known for being able to compromise the security of the latest smartphones that come to market.
