Adobe has put into the Apple store for Mac OS one of its main apps, Lightroom. The app management and photo editing software can now be obtained directly from the Mac App Store without having to download it from external web pages or Adobe site. A promise that has taken almost a year to complete.

In the WWDC18 Apple highlighted Lightroom as one of the “big” and subscription apps that would reach the Mac App Store. They have taken a year, but finally, Lightroom has been put on sale in the Apple store. Well, actually more than for sale, you can download it for free. Although to use it requires a subscription to Adobe CC, Adobe’s cloud service. The novelty is that this subscription can also be purchased directly via Apple if you’ve downloaded the app from the Mac App Store.

Adobe Lightroom offers a free seven-day trial period. After that, you have to get a monthly subscription of $9.99 monthly or an annual subscription of 129.99 euros to continue using the app and other Adobe CC services. Among the advantages of Adobe CC, we find an automatic synchronization of the files in the cloud, as well as the work. It also offers 1 TB of storage in the cloud.

One of the reasons why Adobe has brought its app to the Mac App Store is because of the recent changes in the conditions that Apple imposed on developers. Since last year, the simplest subscriptions for all developers arrive. As a “promotion” the company talked with various companies and developers to port their main apps to the store.

Apple has not commented on whether other important additional Adobe applications will come to the App Store, such as the Photoshop-Lightroom subscription option or other Creative Cloud applications, such as Premiere Pro and Illustrator.

Apple redesigned the Mac application store last year, and then added important applications such as Office 365. Likewise and putting the rivalries aside, Microsoft and Apple worked together, and earlier this month iCloud came to Microsoft Store. The updated Mac App Store was launched with MacOS Mojave last fall, with a renewed organizational scheme and adding the latest Apple applications, such as Apple News, in addition to expanding FaceTime and bringing Voice Memos to the desktop version.
