Fans of Harry Potter did not have to wait long. The new mobile game “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” has now gone off internationally only one day after the official start. Developer Niantic could already celebrate some successes. But you had to stretch your arms in front of the biggest competitor from your own house.
Already last week it was clear that “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” will be released. The official launch in the US and UK was on June 21st. Since June 22, users can also play the mobile game in Germany and many other countries. The title is currently available for iOS devices from Apple and Android users. Players can find the app in both the App Store and the Google Play Store, where it promotes prominently.
Initial numbers for the game assume that “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” is a success, but has no chance against “Pokémon Go”. According to the analysis company Sensor Tower, the game has been downloaded 400,000 times on iOS and Android within the first 24 hours – at least in the US and the UK. On both mobile platforms also revenue of approximately 300,000 US dollars must have been achieved.
These are good numbers, but “Pokémon Go” was even better. The game reached nearly 7.5 million downloads on the first day in the US alone, where it launched in 2016. The revenue was then estimated at just under 2 million US dollars.
The new game of Niantic probably has a big advantage compared to the competition from the house. So the opinions on “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite” are already much more positive than its time on “Pokémon Go“. While the game of Niantic and Nintendo was very rudimentary on the market, this new mobile game enjoys more popularity in cooperation with WB Games. Above all, users praise the scope of the game.
