The divorce between Amazon Inc founder Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie Bezos after 25 years of marriage, that was announced to the public back in January, was finalized on July 5 by a Seattle-area judge.

Following the divorce, MacKenzie Bezos is supposed to receive $38.3 billion worth of Amazon stock, in keeping with the announcement back in April which stated that she would officially receive 4% of Amazon’s outstanding stock or 19.7 million shares after court approval of the divorce.

In May, MacKenzie had pledged to donate half of her fortune to charity in order to contribute to the ‘Giving Pledge’ campaign.

MacKenzie has also stated that she would give the voting control of her shares to Jeff Bezos who continues to hold a 12% stake worth $114.8 billion.
