Smartphone manufacturer, Oppo has renewed its four-year partnership with football club FC Barcelona through the introduction of an exclusive smartphone. The Oppo Reno FC Barcelona Edition is based on the most recent top model, the Reno 10x Zoom.

The special edition smartphone was unveiled at Camp Nou, the stadium of the football club in Barcelona. The blue/red colors of the Spanish club have been brought back in a playful way in both the design of the smartphone and the supplied accessories, even the packaging is colored blue/red. The distinctive club logo is also stylishly integrated into the rear of the device.

The housing of the Reno Limited Edition is composed of two overlapping Barça logos: a larger logo that pays tribute to the club’s legendary history, and a smaller logo that represents the club’s sporting present, as well as the future. In addition, an innovative heat-press technique was used to create a unique gradient color effect.

In terms of functions, the Oppo Reno FC Barcelona Edition does exactly the same as the Reno 10x Zoom. The software has been somewhat modified. This way football fans get access to exclusive football graphics, icons, and toolkits. Various ringtones have also been added, which brings FC Barcelona’s stadium sound to life, says Oppo.

As part of the renewed collaboration between Oppo and FC Barcelona, the signage in the stadium and the training camps will also be adjusted. Another highlight is that Camp Nou will be the first stadium in Europe where 5G reporting becomes possible. In May this year, Oppo was surprisingly the first manufacturer to launch a 5G smartphone in Europe. For the Reno 5G, a partnership was entered into with telecom provider Swisscom from Switzerland.

All these elements are meant to inspire Barça fans worldwide, strengthen the community, bring fans closer to the club and Oppo products and bring passion, creativity, innovation, and perfection together to share – Derek Sun, Marketing Director, Oppo Global

It is not the first time that an Oppo Limited Edition smartphone has been released. Over the past four years, the company has released a new Oppo Reno FC Barcelona Edition every year. Last year it was the Oppo R11 FC Barcelona Edition, this device was also based on a high-end phone. In addition, the Chinese manufacturer also launched the Oppo Find X Lamborghini Edition in collaboration with Lamborghini. You can find this device in our complete Oppo smartphone overview.

Oppo is not the only smartphone manufacturer that sets up such collaborations. Competitor Huawei has entered into a partnership with Porsche in the recent past, which resulted in the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Edition. And Samsung has also been publishing a Limited Edition of its top models for several years on the occasion of the Olympic Games.

Reno smartphone series

The Oppo Reno FC Barcelona Edition is the fifth device in the new Reno line-up. This stylish telephone series was launched in April with the Oppo Reno. A month later the Reno 5G appeared. Although this device is not available in the Netherlands, you can buy the Reno 10x Zoom and the Reno Z here. The Z-variant is the cheapest model, this is also the only Reno smartphone that does not have an oblique pop-up camera – a very characteristic feature for these devices.

The Reno 10x Zoom is the top model. This is the only smartphone in the line-up with a 10x Hybrid Zoom function. This allows you to take significantly nicer zoom photos than with digital zoom functionality. On the other hand, the quality of hybrid zoom is slightly lower compared to optical zoom. However, 10x optical zoom is simply not (yet) available for smartphones.

As for the other specs of this Oppo smartphone, the device has a 6.6-inch Full HD + display with a screen-to-body ratio of 93.1%. The Reno Zoom is also equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 6, making the screen extra resistant to scratches and bumps.

The full-screen design is characterized by a 16-megapixel pop-up camera that comes out of the housing within 0.8 seconds. The rear contains a triple camera system consisting of a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 13-megapixel zoom camera with optical image stabilization.

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor in combination with 8GB of RAM. In addition, there is standard 256GB storage memory, which can also be expanded with a memory card. The dual-sim smartphone runs on Android 9 Pie, in combination with the ColorOS 6 interface from Oppo. Finally, a 4,065 mAh battery is built-in, which can be fully charged within 1.5 hours thanks to VOOC 3.0 technology.

The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom has been available for one month for € 800. You can buy the phone in the colors Ocean Green and Jet Black. The price of the FC Barcelona edition is set at € 900, the Limited Edition version will go on sale on July 26, 2019.
