The Galaxy Unpacked 2019 event will take place in New York in a few weeks where the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus will be presented. In addition to these high-end smartphones, the Korean manufacturer is also expected to introduce a new smartwatch. This smartwatch is probably called Galaxy Watch Active 2.

Galaxy Watch Active 2 with ECG

After the Gear smartwatches, Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch in August 2018. Just six months later, the Watch Active was launched as a smart sports watch. This Tizen wearable will soon have another successor. A lot of information is already known. The most notable and new feature appears to be an ECG heart rate monitoring feature.

However, users will still have to be patient because this electrocardiogram monitor will probably only be made available through a software update in 2020. The required certification is not yet available. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 is not the first smartwatch with a built-in heart rate sensor. Apple Watch 4 is also capable of making a heart video.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 also features fall detection technology. This feature is also available on Apple Watch. As soon as a fall is detected, a notification screen is opened so a user can call on the emergency number 112. The smartwatch auto calls the emergency services if the user doesn’t dial the number.

It is also known from the recent leaks of how Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch will look like. The sleek and round design can be found in the new design. The design, therefore, remains largely unchanged.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 will probably be available in two formats from September 2019; 40 mm and 44 mm. The watch has since been spotted in different colors in the leaks, and Samsung is reported to release a black, silver, pink and gold model.

In addition, consumers can choose from an LTE or a Bluetooth-only version. There also seems to be a special edition on the way, which will be launched in collaboration with Under Armor, probably having additional sports functions, says Tech Radar.

No information is yet known about the price of Samsung’s new smartwatch. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 received a starting price of € 310 a year ago. The introduction price of the Watch Active was set half a year ago at € 250, if you want to buy this watch today, then you will only lose € 185.
